Frensham Trout Fishery

Recommended Posts

Got their at about midday, had a look around and found that fish were rising but for emergers rather than actual insects on surface. So i got a daddy long legs and 'drowned' it. I then rubbed the first 3 inches of the line with sinkant. This had the effect of fishing the dry about half a foot under the surface; worked from the start :clapper:

I fished it in the flow of an powerfull inlflow and caught a 4 inch wild brown trout, i released this and then I moved and casted the fly under a overhanging tree , twitched it and begin a slow jerky retrieve. First Fish on 3rd cast.

I then had a dip in action, leader tangled, fly lost etc etc.

Once I had recovered from this momentairy set-back, I fished a damsel nymphy slowly under the surface, had a lot of follows but all turned away (shiny goldhead may have caused this. Switched to a gold-head naturual daddy. Same thing as before turned away (also had shiny gold-head)

Then went back into the old dry fly sunk with sinkant. Hooked 2 fish, lost both :wallbash:

Minutes to go and hooked another fish, this time kept it on :tongue2:

Took them home gutted them, filleted them for first time as usually just bake/grill them whole (for some reason been doing that for years!)

Cooked them with potatoes, salad, horseradish, walnut and creme fraiche sauce . I cooked the fillets individualy with lemon, butter, salt , parsley and pepper.

Absaloutely Gorgeous :toast:

Ate them 4hrs after capture, Succesful Day :boogie:
